General Information
The Library is a central service unit of the Ludwigshafen University, providing literature 
in both conventional and electronic form. Students of the Ludwigshafen University and 
those of other higher education institutions in the region as well as staff have full 
borrowing privileges. The library is open to the general public for reference purposes.
Holdings
The Library concentrates on business management, economics and related disciplines. The vast 
majority of the material is available for loan but reference books and periodicals are  generally 
restricted to use in the library. The collection comprises about 46,000 publications and roughly 190 
periodicals and newspapers on the following subjects:

Catalogue
The library catalogue (OPAC) allows online literature research by author, keywords, title etc. and gives 
information on availability of material.
All periodicals are listed on the OPAC. Additionally, an alphabetical listing of our current periodicals 
may be also found. Though periodicals may  not be borrowed, photocopiers are available in the 
library.
Further literature and reference databases can be accessed on the computers in the library.
Services
The library of the Ludwigshafen University is an open access library allowing library users to browse 
and select material of interest.
The library has an automated circulation system enabling users to reserve books which are currently 
on loan and extend the loan period of borrowed material provided it has not been reserved.
Interlibrary loan is possible. Orders can be placed by contacting the library staff or by means of the 
Digitale Bibliothek/Fernleihe. 
Working areas in the reading room are equipped with sockets allowing the of use laptops. 
Students of the Ludwigshafen University receive their library cards upon enrolment. Other library users 
wishing to borrow material must apply for a library card and are required to provide appropriate 
identification, such as a passport or student card.
For further information regarding the library and its services, please consult a member of the library 
staff. Guided tours are offered at the beginning of the semester. Arrangements can be made with the 
library staff for tours at other time periods.
Special Collection
The East Asia Institute reference library (Rheinuferstr. 6, 67061 Ludwigshafen) offers a special 
collection of business publications relating to China and Japan. Material in this collection is also listed 
on the OPAC catalogue. Those interested in this special area are advised to conduct their 
research on-site. An alphabetical listing of current periodicals may be seen at www.oai.de under 
'Library'.
